The Mail Tribune is a seven-day daily newspaper based in Medford, Oregon, United States that serves Jackson County, Oregon, and adjacent areas of northern California. Its coverage area centers on Medford and Ashland and includes many small communities in fast-growing Jackson County. The newspaper also covers parts of Central Point, Talent, Eagle Point and Phoenix, as well as areas of western Jacksonville. Founded on April 2, 1907, the newspaper is now owned by Ottaway Community Newspapers, a subsidiary of Dow Jones & Company. It was awarded the 1934 Pulitzer Prize for Meritorious Service, because of its coverage of corrupt politicians.[1] Its sister paper in Ashland, the Ashland Daily Tidings, is also owned by Ottaway. George P. Putnam, heir to the Putnam publishing empire, was the manager and editor of the paper until 1919.[2]

Paper bags can be more than entertainment for the cat. At the grocery store ask for paper instead of plastic. Open up the paper bag and flatten it and have your child draw a picture, put on glitter, or have them add stickers. Use a potato as a stamp and cut a star in it, then use food coloring as the dye and stamp the paper bag with a star. Or try a cookie cutter as a template and draw with a felt pen. However you decorate it, after you are done then use the bag to wrap your gifts.

Save the boxes when you buy your groceries in bulk, and wash and reuse any plastic container that have a lid, such as butter or coffee containers. Shoe boxes are a perfect size for all types of presents, just spray paint them, to get rid of the logo.

Start saving the comics from the Sunday Newspaper and use that to wrap presents. Add some cotton twill or raffia and you have a very retro, homemade looking gift.

Large trash bags are less expensive than custom plastic bags made for larger purchases. Choose a white color and add stickers to make it more festive. Then you can use what's left for your trash.

Last years outgrown Christmas pajamas or red pillow cases can be recycled by cutting the material to size with sheering scissors so that the material doesn't fray and tying together with raffia. You can also put the present into a box or basket and cover it with the material. This is especially nice when you are giving homemade food as a gift.

You may find that you have a lot of paper bags that came from department stores. You can reuse them, by cutting them open and cutting off the logos and then laying them flat and ironing them. It will have a great crinkly old fashioned look to it.
